Scorpion
A little beautiful. A little dangerous. A lot West Coast.
This 12-inch circular hand-dyed art piece features the California Scorpion Fish, a West Coast fish known for its venomous spines—and its delicious flavor. Yes, this fish will sting you, but it tastes great, which makes it the perfect metaphor for people who aren’t always what you expect them to be.
I created this piece using my best shibori tie-dye technique, experimenting with folds and resist patterns to create the bold, linear design. I especially love the way the lines move across the circle and give the piece a sense of motion and texture.
Perfect for a California-inspired home, coastal art collection, ocean lover, surf-inspired space, or anyone who appreciates art with a little attitude. This is a great addition to the a West Coast baddie’s art collection—because pretty doesn’t always mean harmless.
